English    Language     Week   Activities

1.Introduction
* Each  day  should  be  devoted  to  a  different  topics
* I  focused  on  the  following  topics:  proverbs,  animals,  colors,  crosswords,  cross-cultural  studies,  holidays  in  Ukraine,  Great  Britain  and  the  USA
* Other  topics  that  might  interest  students  include  geography,  education,  schools,  sports, music  and  entertainment
* The  last  day  of  the  theme  week  can  be  devoted  to  review,  question/answer  sessions, competitions  results,  poetry  reading,  concerts

2. The  preparations
* Make  a  poster  to  introduce  the  week Ц СТWelcome  to  the  English  Language   WeekТТ
* Reproduce  СТWelcomeТТ  signs  in  different  languages:  German,  Russian,  Greek,  French,  Spanish, Japanese,   Chinese

3.  Materials:                                                                                                                             tape   recorder,   various   music  tapes, matching  game  cards,  markers,  costumes

4.   Each   form   participates   in teams

Aims:

Х    To motivate students to learn English.

Х    To teach them to respect and understand other cultures, traditions and customs.

Х    To enrich the students outlook.

Х    To learn them to work in groups and respect different opinions.

Tasks for 2 teams

1.   Give the English equivalents of proverbs and match parts of them.

2.   Write down: - animals; - hidden animals; - colors; - hidden colors; - kinds of sport; -family members; - school subjects; - food and drinks; - money of different countries.

3.   Guess the crosswords.

4.   A Quiz "What? When? Where?"

5.    Holiday Presentations: a placard, a date, a meal, a song, clothes.

           Halloween, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving Day, St. Valentine's Day?

11.      How do Ukrainians greet guests? (with bread and salt).

12.      What do you do when you are in Rome?

13.      What oceans do you know?

14.      What continents do you know?

15.      How often do the Olympic Games take place?
16.      What flowers are the symbols of England, Scotland, Wales and      
            Northern Ireland?

Hidden    colours

Find   the   name   of   a  colour  hidden  in  each  sentence.
1.  Some  parts  of  the  face are  the  eye ,  eyebrow,  nose,  and  a  mouth.
2.  I  am  not  really  dumb;  lack  of  sleep  made  me  forget  the  answers.
